Budget 2014 – a date for your diary

European Central Bank holds interest rates at 0.25%
The European Central Bank (ECB) has kept its benchmark interest rate at its record low of 0.25%. The Eurozone interest rates have remained unchanged since November 2013.
Bank of England holds interest rates at 0.5%
The Bank of England has once again kept UK interest rates at 0.5%. This rate has now been in place for 5 years.
UK economy grows at fastest rate since 2007
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the UK economy grew by 1.9% in 2013. This is the highest annual growth rate since 2007.
UK inflation rate falls to 2% in December 2013
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) measure of inflation fell to 2% in December, according to the Office for National Statistics.
